Atteva aurea occurs in North and Central America, from southern Canada to Costa Rica, and the West Indies. It likely expanded into North America following the introduction of Ailanthus altissima. Small moth (wingspan 18-30 mm). The forewing is orange, with black and white rosettes; the hindwing is gray. Adults are diurnal; take nectar from flowers. The larvae feed on leaves of Simaroubaceae (Simarouba and the introduced Ailanthus spp.) and other deciduous trees and shrubs. This species flies from March to November in USA.
